Carey was almost 5'10 tall before she stepped up to the high-end model. Her popularity among American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was extremely high. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist of the Year back in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey has lived across the globe as a result his career. Modeling began part time when she was a student studying at college at University of Colorado and caught the eye of a rep for the Ford model Agency in New York. The model lived in France briefly, in Paris and Bordeaux. She then returned in New York for her college study and further to build her career as a model. In between modeling assignments she was enrolled in literature full time during her time at New York University. As she studied acting at Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her interest in acting increased. She began her acting career through a tiny role in 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. She is a rock climber ski, windsurfing, and skiing.
